Unsullied

From the beginning, James Dyson called upon unsullied graduates to establish new ways of doing things. Then, they were engineers. Now, they’re all over Dyson.

The right person

The right person.

Attitude is more important than experience. We prefer a keen mind and an enthusiasm to learn to ‘a wealth of experience’. Above all, we look for bright, intelligent and articulate people who’ll work hard. Creativity and the odd oddball idea help. People who’ll volunteer for things beyond their job description. People who’ll do what’s best for Dyson and our customers. People who won't ever give up.

The right job

There’s no formal graduate training scheme. But there are plenty of opportunities to develop. From day one you’re given responsibility. And if you do well, that responsibility grows. Quickly.

One day I feel like a writer, the next an event organiser. I host international visitors, write proposals for new projects, direct photo shoots and support engineers with their research. I arrived at Dyson ambitious, but knowing very little about what I’d need to do. The confidence people invest in you is empowering.

The reward.

It’s varied, challenging, and sometimes sickeningly stretching. Of course there are some basics to cover, but ultimately, it’s as big as you make it.
