About the role

The Head of Quality – Beauty is a key role within the Quality and Product Safety team.  Reporting to the Chief Quality Officer, this role is responsible for quality leadership in ensuring end to end quality management of the Dyson Haircare product range. The responsibility of this role is throughout the full product lifecycle from overseeing the early project quality planning & product/project risk assessment to managing the deliverables and health during builds, ramp-up and lifecycle along cross functional of category, engineering & operations.

As a key people leader, you will develop your teams’ capabilities in line with the long-term business needs: recruiting, coaching, and developing our people. You will create and drive forward the department’s long-term vision, including annual goals and objectives, and take accountability for the quality and timeliness of your teams’ delivery.

Some of the key responsibilities could include:

  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a team of skilled professionals, providing clear guidance, mentorship, and support to drive their professional growth.

  • Functional Strategy: Develop and execute the Product Quality strategy for the haircare range of products, aligning it with the overall business objectives, as well as managing budgets accordingly. Lead with vision and passion, inspiring your team to embrace and drive change. Influence the broader organizational strategy with a forward-thinking approach.

  • Functional Management: Develop and manage budgets, timelines, and resources to support successful and timely delivery of projects. Identify and mitigate risks to minimize project delays. Attract, recruit and retain talent. Manage performance and develop our people.

  • Collaborator: You will build strong relationships within and outside of Quality and Product Safety. Collaborating with your peers in other Quality groups, and within the Beauty Product Unit and Project Leadership Teams (PLTs) is a vital part of this role.

  • Influencer: You will have strong stakeholder engagement, be able to represent Quality and Product Safety and influence at multiple layers, specifically with Dyson Leadership including the President of Beauty and the VP of Engineering.

  • Highly Accountable: Accountable for the team’s delivery of the quality goals alongside product milestone timelines, ensuring they are always delivered with high levels of quality & technical rigor. Provide sound leadership and guidance to your team.

About You

  • A degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.

  • Leadership experience in a high pace engineering/operations/quality environment ideally having managed teams in an international organization.

  • Extensive experience in strategic planning, support of high-profile projects, with proven management of complex issues, projects and tasks under strict timelines.

  • A strong ability to lead, inspire and instill a high-performing culture across multi-functional teams.

  • Fearless communicator, influencer, decisive mindset and inclusive.

  • Conversant in different technical disciplines to credibly understand and articulate risks/ benefits/ opportunities throughout the product development journey. 

  • Able to present and communicate complex information simply to a variety of audiences including senior and non-engineering stakeholders. 

  • Motivated by driving continuous improvement programs and application of Lessons Learnt mindset.

  • Willingness to challenge the status quo and relentlessly drive continuous improvement.

  • Commercially minded, financially savvy, able to get best value from the product, process & business 

  • Experienced practitioner of Quality tools and methodologies, such as: Critical to (safety, satisfaction, reliability), FMEAs, Statistical Process Control, Control Plans, 8D/CAPA, 6Sigma.
